Official Statement – Humaniti Foundation

Humaniti Foundation is aware of recent public discussions raising questions regarding the governance, transparency, and financial reporting of Muslim charitable organizations, including ours.

We take these concerns seriously. We also want to make clear that Humaniti Foundation strongly rejects any suggestion that donor funds have been handled improperly or directed away from their intended charitable purposes.

As an organization operating across more than 31+ countries and supporting over 100 humanitarian projects, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of charitable funds. We welcome fair and constructive scrutiny of the nonprofit sector and believe it plays an important role in strengthening trust.

Humaniti commenced operations in 2023 and has experienced significant growth as its programs have expanded across multiple regions and initiatives. Today, our work spans emergency relief, food security, healthcare, education, and seasonal humanitarian campaigns serving vulnerable communities across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

This growth reflects the trust placed in us by our donors and partners and carries with it a responsibility to continuously strengthen our systems, governance, and reporting practices.

As part of our natural organizational evolution, Humaniti initiated a governance and operational review to ensure our internal structures remain aligned with our expanding global footprint.

This includes:

  • Enhancing governance frameworks and Board oversight
  • Strengthening compliance and reporting processes
  • Implementing ongoing review cadences to support continuous improvement

These enhancements are part of a proactive effort to ensure that Humaniti remains well-positioned for responsible, transparent, and sustainable growth.

In connection with this review, management determined that certain updates would improve the clarity and completeness of our Form 990 reporting.

Accordingly:

  • An amended Form 990 has been submitted
  • The updated filing provides:
    • Expanded disclosures regarding our activities
    • Improved presentation of programmatic and organizational information

These updates are clarificatory in nature and are intended to ensure our public reporting more accurately reflects the scope and structure of our work. They do not affect the organization’s underlying financial results or the use of donor funds.

Humaniti Foundation and its related entities undergo independent financial oversight processes, including external reviews and audits where applicable.

We maintain internal controls and financial systems designed to ensure that:

  • Funds are properly accounted for
  • Resources are allocated in alignment with donor intent
  • Programs are delivered responsibly and effectively

We are also continuing to strengthen audit coverage and financial review processes as part of our ongoing organizational development.

We recognize that trust, particularly when it comes to Zakat and charitable giving, is sacred and must be earned through consistent action.

As a growing organization, we view transparency and accountability as ongoing responsibilities that evolve alongside our work, not as one-time exercises.

Moments of public inquiry are opportunities to strengthen our systems, improve our reporting, and reinforce our commitment to those we serve and those who support us.

Our mission remains unchanged.

With the support of our donors, volunteers, scholars, and partners, Humaniti will continue to deliver meaningful humanitarian assistance to communities in need around the world.

We are grateful for the trust placed in us and remain committed to upholding that trust through the integrity of our programs, the strength of our governance, and our continued focus on transparency and impact.
